This is so strange. What appears to be an unnaturally long cowhide is actually a rubber backed fabric digitally printed with a photographic image of a real cowhide. Like I said, strange. The image is detailed enough to see individual hairs, and because it’s fabric, it’s washable and easy to keep clean. Obviously, it’s non-allergenic as well. Intended for long rooms and corridors, it measures up to 380cm long, which is just about 12.5 feet.

This lamp has long been on my wish list, and surprisingly, it’s actually somewhat affordable. To share a bit of its history, the PD4 lamp was originally designed by Barba Corsini in 1955 for the loft space within Antonio Gaudi’s famous building “La Pedrera”, also known as Casa Milà, in Barcelona. To learn more, see the video below. There’s also a floor lamp version, which is equally desirable, (PD2 Floor Lamp) though it’ll cost you a few more $100 bills.

Seeing as it’s about time to get out the garden tools, these cork containers could be something to add to your shopping list. Potted plants are oh-so-necessary for small patios and balconies, not to mention the indoor territory, but it’s often hard to find pots that fit within the modern aesthetic… that don’t cost an arm and a leg, that is. Now, if you should choose these cork containers, you’d not need to worry one bit, as they’re a natural material, and they would blend right in with their surroundings. To most people, trying to improve the LEGO block would be like reinventing the wheel, but leave it to the designers over at Muji to not leave well enough alone and come up with a very creative toy series that combine the snap-together blocks with paper. Each of the six play sets includes a collection of LEGO bricks, paper, and instructions to construct example models. A specially designed hole puncher creates perfectly sized holes to fit the blocks. Current sets include; Basic, Move, Sea, Animal & Vehicle, Christmas, and Animals. Just to add my two cents, I would prefer to buy only the hole punch, provide my own LEGO blocks, and let my kids go wild with blank construction paper, crayons and scissors. Either way, you can count on these toys to provide endless hours of creative fun.

Storage can be tricky, especially if you’re short on cabinets and closets. These lug trugs from Strand Design are pretty perfect for corralling all manner of stuff (newspapers, firewood, toys, etc.) out in the open, as they look particularly nice and sturdy. They are made from recycled rubber and hand stitched with polyester thread.

Add these ‘friends’ to your kitchen and be amazed at their various uses. Scooping, serving, funneling, filling, pouring, you name it, they’ll help you with it. The medium container has interior marks for measuring (each 1/4 C.) while the larger container doubles as a pitcher. The small works as an excellent funnel for transferring dry goods or liquids into smaller containers. And, of course, the three funnels nest to save space. So smart.
