Another tea strainer? Yes, but this one has a mug and lid, so you have a single-serve service all in one. The glass is heat-resistant, as it should be, and the strainer and lid are in copolyester. The strainer is large enough to hold a generous amount of loose leaf tea and looks easy to clean as well. Ah-ha! Here’s a crutch for those of us that have trouble with watering herbs- either too much or too little. The Patch Herb Planter has a water reservoir built in, so that the plant can take exactly the amount of water it needs. There’s a central wicking ‘leg’ that draws water up into the soil around the plant’s roots, so you’ll not need to fuss about any watering schedule- just keep the reservoir topped up.

Now, don’t get too excited as this is just a shade, and not a complete pendant light, and it’s intended for interiors with electrical conduit. However, if you’ve got an interior (say, a retail or café-type environment) with exposed electrical conduit, then you’re now allowed to jump up and down as you’ve an affordable solution to your lighting problems. What!? You still need a gift idea for your mother? Hop to it, as the online ordering and shipping window is slowly closing in on you (a few more days, though, so don’t panic just yet). Isn’t it? At least it will be until the three limited editions are sold out, and then everyone except the 3 people who bought the prints will email with the why-the-hell-did-you-post-something-in-such-limited-quantities message, and I’ll be forced to explain that these prints were one of the few things that I found today that truly proves that affordable art does, in fact, exist. Plus, it’s ‘fun’.

There has been a few interesting trivets lately, which is weird considering that trivets aren’t usually paired with that particular adjective, or even talked about outside of specialized kitchen shops. This Troika trivet has embedded rare earth magnets that allow for size variation to fit small or large dishes. Push/pull/snap/slide the Troika to the desired width and know that your tabletop or counter will be safe from hot kettles or serving platters. When not in use, the three identical arms nestle together to fit in a drawer for storage.

Where can you get a 6′ circle rug for less than $200? Lots of places, it turns out, with a little bit of internet sleuthing. However, sometimes the materials and/or designs are a bit iffy and you’ve no idea if it will look cheap in person. There’s no guesswork involved with a braided 100% cotton rug, however. This braided grey rug with its eco-friendly dye and white zigzag stitching makes a whole lot of sense for its scale and price. Plus, grey goes anywhere, with anything (most of the time), so you’ll not need to worry about clashing with your existing color scheme.

What is meant to be kept in these nicely shaped canisters? Might as well cut to the chase: wet wipes. If wet wipes are in any way integral to your day (pets, kids, or maybe you’re just a messy eater), you know the packaging isn’t going to win any awards. Instead of lamenting how graphic/packaging design caters to the masses, pop those suckers into one of these ceramic canisters and call it a day. A silicon gasket around the wooden lid keeps the wipes from drying out, and, hey, the canister looks nice enough to be kept out anywhere in the house- not just the bath or laundry room.

Perhaps you find yourself fiddling with tape too often- without a proper dispenser, it can be a little silly to search for the end time after time. As luck would have it, this walnut tape cutter is on sale for $30, down from $50. And, if you’re fond of using many different washi tapes on the same project, it looks like it would be easy to switch the tapes out as it’s easy to access from the side.

A bit of brass won’t hurt you if you put it in the right place, namely, above your head in the shape of a light fixture. Bestlite lamps have a history; did you know that Robert Dudley Best’s lamp was the first example of Bauhaus in the UK, and required quite a bit of argument to put it into production?
