Constellation Tea Towels

Tea towels are so much better than paper towels, at least for the simple spills in the kitchen. It’s a smart way to save a little money over time and reduce waste, and they’re also much nicer to see and use, as shown by the Constellation Tea Towels made Holly Muller in Portland, Oregon. Constellations + tea towels = yes. (And 40% off today only from the retailer!)

Brilliant Boxes by Simon Legald

Several bright colors plus a semi-traditional glass pattern make these Brilliant Boxes a perfect fit for this spring season. But what are they for? Trinkets, of course, but only the most special sort. Perhaps a bright turquoise box could be a perfect gift? Or, maybe a Large Smoke Box plus a Small Dark Green might be a nice addition to your dresser top for holding jewelry and other small sundries?

M Lamp

This little guy looks like he needs to star in a Pixar film, doesn’t he? Inspired by the archetypal miner’s lamps of 19th century, the M Lamp is powered by a rechargeable Lithium long-life battery, and if you’re asking how long is ‘long-life’ you’ll be happy to know that it is rated “to last 50,000 hours, for up to 2,000 charging cycles with no loss in performance.” Is that impressive, or what? A handle makes the M Lamp very portable, so you can move it around the home whenever you need an extra light.

Tool Bookmark byAMT

If you still turn paper pages, you might just need a bookmark like these brass tabs by Alissia Melka-Teichroew (byAMT). Brick Lamp

This lamp is reduced down to a simple brick shape with no switch or cord. How do you turn it off? With magic! Just kidding, it’s nothing that mysterious, you just lay it flat. The concept of concealing and revealing is at work here, with the light turning on when you raise it onto its side. The side facets work as handles as well as creating a sturdy base with an ideal angle of light. See HCWDstudio’s Kickstarter video below for more.

Sweep-It Set

You don’t have to tell me how hard it is to keep dust and dirt at bay; I have a dog that likes to step in mud at every opportunity, plus a cat that sheds fur all the effing time. I have Ole Jensen’s Dustpan and Brush, but this Sweep-It Set by Klaus Rath for Stelton looks like it would be more functional for everyday messes. The lotus wood brush nests neatly with the dustpan, and it can be easily stored under the sink or hung from a hook.

Clothes Rack by Ferm Living

Would you like an alternate version of this other clothing rail ($399) we posted a while ago? Well, Ferm Living has a rather similar idea in the clothes rack you see above. An iron rod hangs from the ceiling by harness leather belts, so there’s a material/textural difference- a nice touch, don’t you think? Your wallet will be happy that it’s less expensive than the other one, and your clothes will be overjoyed they’re not on the floor (again).

Neon Mfg. Signs

What if neon signs were more affordable? Maybe you would snap one up faster than you could say ‘do i really need one’ or maybe you couldn’t care less. Either way, some of us like that neon glow, and will spend the next few minutes contemplating just what word or short saying we’d most like to see each and every day, and then we’ll be happy that we could order a sign with up to ten letters for $350. Neon Mfg. also has plenty of pre-made options that might work for your wall as well: ‘Hustle‘ and ‘What If‘ ($125 each) are my favorites.

Wald Plug Lamp

The Wald Plug Lamp is a floor lamp without the floor. Huh? It plugs directly into a wall socket, using the plug connection as its sole support. So, technically, I suppose it’s actually a wall light, but we’ll accept the categorization of a floor lamp because of its height. Might I point out how much easier this would be to install than a wall sconce? It could be a clever bedside or sofa-side option for those of you who currently rent (or for those who are habitually lazy and/or averse to installing light fixtures).

Ito Bindery Drawing Pads

How can a drawing pad be beautiful? Just look at the perfectly straight edges, the coal-black (and recycled) cardboard backing, the geometric proportions, and the satin-smooth paper of the Ito Bindery Drawing Pads. And, of course, the lack of any apparent branding. A little too precious for the average note-taker? Perhaps, but that doesn’t stop me from wanting a stack of these pads on my desk pronto. Let’s toss out our sticky-backed notes and never look back, shall we?
