This will help you count down the days in style...(by the way, I ran across something like this in a picture of someone's loft and they used it more as a sculptural item than a holiday decoration and it really worked...wish I could remember where it was.) Build enthusiasm for Christmas by building this Advent Calendar upward. A modern take on a traditional decoration, 24 cylindrical boxes stack on top of each other to create a stylized red cardboard holiday tree. Place a small gift or snack under each box, revealing a surprise each day as you get closer to Christmas. A red foil number on the side of each box tells you what day you're on and the whole calendar can nest inside itself for compact storage during the rest of the year.Built up: H 57.5" Base Diameter 11" $90.00, Buy it here. Here's a nice alternative to the somewhat ubiquitous Stendig Calendar. Calendreco™ is a perpetual wall calendar composed of one oversized board with the month's numbers (1 - 31) and three additional headers with different weekday combinations. Depending on the month, the corresponding header is placed in front of the board to indicate the date. With one simple adjustment every month, the calendar can be used year after year. It is made with responsibly sourced pulps, vegetable based non-toxic inks, 100% renewable electrical energy, and clean water. Manufactured carbon neutral and chlorine free, this paper is one of the most chemical - free papers available today. Easy to use, remarkably designed, modern in appearance and environmentally friendly.Big Board: 35"l x 25"h Headers: 35"l x 9.5"h $60.00, Buy it here. [posted by katie]

Perpetual Calendars are such a very smart purchase- this one will guide you on what dates fall where until the year 2152.
"Very modern, very cool! High gloss high white durable plastic. Never buy another calendar again! Great for any environment that needs a calendar...How it works: There are only 7 days a month can start on and only 4 different month lengths (28, 29, 30 and 31 days). So with only 14 double sided inserts all 28 variations are covered. All the cards you will ever need are contained inside the calendar! On the backside is a schedule printed to get you going till December 2020. (An insert inside the calendar also provides the information till December 2152.)inside the calendar is an insert with all the monthly information you need till December 2152." As always, it is my duty to inform you of any decent perpetual calendars. I'd say this qualifies and exceeds expectations with its spare and functional design. "Is time linear? The Folle Wall Calendar (1982) says yes, offering an innovative way to measure time, with the days of the month presented in a straight line. A red pointer that slides along the top, above cobalt blue numbers, adjusts to the current day. Two holes on either end allow this perpetual calendar to be hung above your workspace, a reminder that even everyday objects like a calendar can transcend the mundane. Made in Denmark." There's still time to have gifts shipped in time for next week...and this calendar would be perfect for anyone who leans toward simple and spare design.
"Massimo Vignelli's Perpetual Wall Calendar (1980) will never be out of date. Made of heavyweight paperboard, this calendar can be used month after month, year after year. The large, bold numbers are easy to read - evidence of Vignelli's genius with typography - and the white-on-black design makes a simple and clean graphic. Can be hung on the wall or laid on a desk. I feel that is my duty to post any decent perpetual calendars I come across, not only because they'll save you from 12 months of usually bland/bad photography, but also because they'll save you money (if you live long enough)...
